COVID-19 STIMULUS PAYMENT ALERT!

January 29, 2021

Please be aware that the Covid-19 Stimulus payment is being made either by paper check or a prepaid debit card.  The prepaid debit card is sent in a very nondescript white envelope.  Watch for the U.S. Department of Treasury seal.

The IRS website states the payments went out in early January but many in our neighborhoods are just receiving them.

As we have all heard, the stimulus payments resulting from the implementation of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act have been issued. The usual procedure for the distribution of these payments is by direct deposit into a checking or savings account.

Apparently, however, depending on when a tax return was filed and the taxes paid in 2020, the direct deposit information was destroyed. Thus, the stimulus payment for the individuals affected by this is being made either by paper check or a prepaid debit card. The IRS website states the payments went out in early January but many in our neighborhoods are just receiving them. Please be aware that the debit card is sent in a very nondescript white envelope.

Although the Treasury Department touts the envelope prominently displays the U.S. Department of Treasury seal, unless one is aware of this, it can easily be treated as junk mail.
